Poinciana PR Blood Drive Successfully Garners 18 Pints of Blood From Donors

NASSAU, NP– The Poinciana Public Relations Blood Drive, which was hosted on July 13 at the Princess Margaret Hospital’s Blood Bank, was able to successfully collect 18 pints of blood from generous donors.

The blood drive was a collaboration between Poinciana Public Relations, the Public Hospitals Authority, the Princess Margaret Hospital and Pinksands 242 and aimed to raise awareness about the new location of the PMH Blood Bank, which was relocated to First Terrace off Collins Avenue, earlier this year.

"Thanks to the support of generous donors, the blood bank successfully collected 18 pints of blood, potentially saving up to 54 lives," said Nikia Wells, Managing Director of Poinciana Public Relations. "Many more individuals attempted to donate, but some were unable to do so due to health challenges. This is a common occurrence, which highlights the critical need for regular donations from healthy volunteers.”

In appreciation of the donors' life-saving contributions, all participants received refreshments courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts and TD Cakes. Additionally, the first 25 attendees received phone cards provided by BTC. Successful donors were also able to spin a digital wheel for prizes donated by Farmhouse Bistro, BTC, Pedi in a Bag, Seagrapes Wines, the Swimming Pugs, TD Cakes, and the One Blood Reggae concert. Prizes included smartphones, event tickets, dining gift certificates, and more.

Wells emphasized that beyond donations, the drive successfully raised awareness about the simplicity of the donation process and the new blood bank’s location. "With the support of donors, sponsors, partners, and volunteers, we not only collected vital blood donations but also generated media coverage and public attention for the PMH Blood Bank and its mission. Meeting first-time donors was particularly encouraging, and we aim to continue supporting the blood bank in spreading awareness of their crucial work, hoping to establish this event as an annual initiative."

The PMH Blood Bank is located on First Terrace, off Collins Avenue, and operates Monday through Saturday each week.
